Who is behind this site

SundaeLink is an independent editorial desk publishing from Queensland, Australia. It reviews free ancient-world games available on Android. There is no company structure behind it beyond the three people who write it, and the only way to reach us is by e-mail: team@sundaelink.com.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) that sit inside it. This policy covers the pages published at sundaelink.com and nothing else.

What this site collects

There are no forms on this site, no accounts, no log-in and no advertising. We do not ask you for your name, your address or anything else, and there is nowhere on these pages to type it. What exists is the following, and only the following:

  • Traffic data processed by Cloudflare. Cloudflare, Inc. sits in front of this site as its content delivery and security layer. In serving a page it processes your IP address, the address of the page requested, the referring address, your browser and device type, approximate country derived from the IP address, and timestamps, together with the security signals it uses to keep the site available.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics. The pages load a small Cloudflare measurement beacon. It reports the page address, the referrer, loading performance figures such as Core Web Vitals, the class of browser and device, and country derived from the IP address. It sets no cookie, builds no profile of you and does not follow you to other sites.
  • One local-storage entry. When you close the notice at the bottom of the screen, a single entry is written into your browser's local storage so the notice stays closed. It never leaves your device and we cannot read it.
  • Whatever you send us by e-mail. If you write to the desk, we have your address and the contents of your message, for as long as the exchange stays relevant.

Why we handle it

Traffic data exists so that pages load and stay online, and so that attacks against the site can be absorbed. Measurement data exists so we know which reviews people actually read and whether the pages are fast enough on a mid-range phone; it is aggregate and cannot be traced back to a person by us. E-mail exists so we can answer you. We do not use any of it for profiling, scoring or advertising, because there is no advertising on this site.

We send no commercial electronic messages, run no mailing list and operate no push notifications, so the consent and unsubscribe machinery of the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) has nothing to attach to here. If that ever changes, this page will change first and will say so plainly.

Who else sees it

Cloudflare, Inc. as our delivery, security and measurement provider, and our domain and hosting provider, to the extent that serving a website requires it. That is the entire list. We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise disclose personal information for the benefit of anybody else, and no advertising network, data broker or social platform receives anything from these pages.

Cloudflare operates a global network, so handling may take place on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. In line with APP 8 we choose providers that publish binding contractual protections for that handling, and we keep the amount of information involved as small as a working website allows.

How long it is kept

Delivery and security logs sit with our provider on short retention cycles, normally counted in days rather than months, and we hold no copy of them. Aggregate measurement figures carry no identifier that would let anyone reach you. E-mail correspondence stays in the desk's mailbox while the conversation is live and is deleted once it no longer serves a purpose.

Access, correction and complaints

Under APP 12 and APP 13 you may ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Write to team@sundaelink.com and we will answer inside 30 days. In practice the honest answer for most readers is that we hold nothing beyond a page request that has already rolled out of the logs.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), which supervises the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The OAIC can be reached at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992. We would appreciate the chance to fix the problem first.

Security

Pages are served over HTTPS. There are no accounts, no stored credentials and no database of readers on this site, which removes most of what could be lost in the first place. No system is perfect, and we will say so publicly if anything ever goes wrong.

Children

SundaeLink is written for adults choosing something to play. It is not directed at children, and it collects nothing that would identify a child any more than an ordinary web request identifies anybody.

Readers outside Australia

The site is published from Australia under Australian law; visitors from the EEA and the United Kingdom are welcome to write to us if they want their local rights honoured, and we will apply them.

Changes to this policy

If the way this site handles information changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it and the substance of the change is described here rather than folded quietly into a paragraph.

SundaeLink sets no advertising or analytics cookies of its own. Cloudflare delivers these pages, may set a technical security cookie and loads its own statistics beacon, which works without cookies. Details in the Cookie Notice.
